Grounds maintenance
Grounds are the first thing a visitor sees and the first thing to slip when a contract is priced too thin. Regency maintains estates, housing land and commercial grounds on a scheduled year-round programme — winter included, which is the half most cheap quotes quietly leave out.
What the contract covers
- Grass cutting, edging and seasonal programmes
- Hedge, shrub and tree maintenance
- Weed control on hard and soft landscaping
- Litter picking and external tidy
- Winter gritting, snow clearance and call-out cover
- Planting, landscaping and grounds improvement works
- Schedules that flex with the growing season rather than the calendar
Who we do this for
- Housing associations
- Commercial estates
- Local authorities
- Care homes and schools
Common questions
- How many cuts a year should a contract include?
- Enough to keep up with growth, which is not a fixed number — a warm wet spring needs more than a dry one. Contracts specifying a rigid count tend to leave grass long in May and cut nothing in August. Ask how the schedule flexes.
- Is winter gritting included?
- It should be specified explicitly, with trigger temperatures and response times. It is the most commonly omitted item in a cheap grounds quote, and the one you notice at seven o'clock on a frosty Monday.
- Who is liable if someone slips on ice?
- As the occupier you carry the duty, which is why a gritting record matters as much as the gritting. A contract that logs when the site was treated is what defends a claim.
- Can grounds sit on the same contract as cleaning?
- Yes, and on multi-site estates that is usually the point — one account manager for the inside and the outside, and no argument about whether the entrance is grounds or cleaning.
- Do you handle tree work?
- Routine maintenance yes. Large or high-risk tree surgery is specialist work requiring separate qualification, and it is coordinated rather than improvised.
- What happens to the green waste?
- It is removed and composted or recycled under duty of care. Leaving arisings on site is cheaper and occasionally appropriate, but on a maintained estate it usually just moves the problem.

A site survey costs nothing and takes about twenty minutes. You will speak to the person who would run your contract, not a call centre.
