Pressure washing & soft washing
Car parks, forecourts and paving go green and grey, render streaks, and cladding dulls, and on the Ayrshire coast it happens faster. Regency pressure washes hard surfaces and soft washes the ones that would be damaged by pressure, so buildings and grounds look looked after without stripping what they are made of.

Common questions
- What is the difference between pressure washing and soft washing?
- Pressure washing uses high-pressure water to lift dirt from hard, durable surfaces like concrete and block paving. Soft washing uses low pressure and a cleaning solution that kills algae and lichen at the root, for surfaces that pressure would damage, such as render, cladding, painted walls and roofs. Most sites need a mix of the two.
- Will pressure washing damage my paving or walls?
- It can if it is done with the wrong method, which is why we choose the method by the surface rather than using full pressure on everything. Render, sandstone and older pointing in particular get soft washed.
- How long does it stay clean?
- It depends on shade, drainage and how close you are to the sea. Soft washing tends to last longer on walls and roofs because it treats the growth rather than just removing the top layer. Many sites book it once or twice a year as part of a grounds or FM contract.
- Can it be done while we are open?
- Usually, by working in sections and coning off the area in use, or by doing it early or out of hours. Car parks are typically done in bays so the site keeps working.
