Unattended death cleaning

When someone has died at home and has not been found for some time, the property needs specialist cleaning before anyone can safely go back in. Regency does this work across Scotland, 24 hours a day, for families, landlords, councils and housing providers. We do it discreetly, with unmarked vehicles where that helps, and treat the property and the people involved with respect.

Common questions

How soon can you come?
We run a 24/7 response for this work. Call the number on this page and you will speak to a person. We can often attend the same day once the police or procurator fiscal have released the property.
Is this covered by insurance?
Often, yes. Household and landlord policies frequently cover specialist cleaning after a death. We provide documentation written for the insurer, which makes the claim easier.
Can we keep personal belongings?
Yes. Tell us what matters and we will set it aside, and clean it where that is possible. Anything that cannot be safely kept, we will explain before it is removed.
Will the neighbours know?
We work discreetly, with unmarked vehicles and crews in plain workwear where the situation calls for it. For families, that discretion is usually what matters most.
What happens to the waste?
Contaminated materials are disposed of as clinical waste through licensed routes, with duty-of-care paperwork. That documentation is part of the job, not an extra.

A site survey costs nothing and takes about twenty minutes. You will speak to the person who would run your contract, not a call centre.
