Hoarder clearance

Hoarding is a health and safety problem and a personal one at the same time, and the second part is the one most contractors get wrong. Regency clears and cleans hoarded properties across Ayrshire and Scotland at a pace the person can cope with, working alongside families, housing officers and social work, and without anyone feeling they are being judged.

What the contract covers

  • A visit and assessment before anything is moved
  • Clearance at the person's pace, with items they want kept set aside
  • Sorting for donation, recycling and licensed disposal
  • Deep clean, sanitising and odour treatment afterwards
  • Pest treatment through our own pest control team where needed
  • Needle sweeps and biohazard handling where the property needs it
  • Liaison with housing providers, social work and family

Who we do this for

  • Housing associations and councils
  • Social work and support services
  • Families
  • Landlords

Common questions

Will the person be involved?
Wherever they want to be. A clearance done to someone rather than with them tends to fail, because the property fills up again. We agree what stays, what goes and how fast before we start, and we work to that.
Is this discreet?
Yes. Crews are briefed before they arrive, and we work with as little attention from neighbours as the job allows.
Can you deal with pests, mould or needles?
Yes. Hoarded properties often have all three. We have our own pest control team, and needle sweeps and biohazard handling are routine work for us, so it does not need several contractors.
Who usually arranges this?
Often a housing officer, a social worker or a family member, and sometimes the person themselves. We can work with whoever is coordinating and report back to them.

A site survey costs nothing and takes about twenty minutes. You will speak to the person who would run your contract, not a call centre.
